These staining solutions contain inorganic salts, dissolved in water, which react with the minerals in concrete. The result is a great variety of attractive colors that range from light brown to deep chocolate brown and from blue verde to blue green verde or green verde. The concrete stain solution is not a dye or a paint; rather, it is a chemical reaction with minerals within the concrete. The chemicals penetrate through concrete pores to form a durable solid color which will not peel off or flake. This staining chemicals react with new as well as old concrete. Each concrete slab accepts the stain in varying degrees of intensity creating stunning multi-hued color variations in an uneven surface that looks perfectly aged.
Outstanding Durability: Acid stains surpass all others in terms of permanence and long lasting durability. It will not ship, fade or peel off the surface to which it is applied on. An artist can create his/her own shade of color by using a mixture of Green Verde, Blue Green Verde, or Blue Verde. The colors produced are
designed to decorate Patios, building exterior, drive ways, Garage Floors, entrances, living rooms, side walks, restaurants, entrance ways and commercials.
Coverage: Each gallon of concrete stain or sealer WSL-45 will cover 200 sq.ft.
1. Preparation:
Preparation for concrete staining is very simple. New concrete, when cured (2 weeks after poured) is ready to accept and react with chemicals to develop the desired color. Old concrete should be cleaned free of dirt, grease, paints. Usually, sanding is the best way to clean the concrete.
2. Application: Concrete
stain solutions can be applied by spraying, brushing, or with a roller but the best way is by spraying. Avoid pudding. Brush out pooled stains. Allow stained area to dry evenly. A second coat can be applied if necessary after 4 hours for best results. We strongly recommend to test a small area before doing the whole part.
3. Neutralizing: Before sealing or waxing, the acid stain
must be neutralized with a 5 - 10 % mixture of water and baking soda, gently brush, and rinse with plenty of water and let it dry.
4. Sealing or waxing: To provide the concrete a long
lasting durability and prevent varied appearance, it is important seal the stained concrete with a clear sealer WSL-45-G (glossy) or sealer WSL-45-F (FLAT). periodic re-application or sealer is recommended when surface area has high traffic. Use a roller to remove excess sealer.
